Under the threat of TWO Kiwi knives from Mr. Chens, I must report Kris has done four loads of laundry, cooked breakfast, made tuna salad, cleaned dishes AND cleaned E's throw up last night in their bed. This morning he did not remember doing it, but we assured him he did.
At the time it was pouring rain (last night) and Kris threw the soiled sheets and blankets on the little stairwell to the doorway. The bedding smelled horrible so we threw them out into the rain. I gave them some of Sum's and my bedding and we all had a chilly night's sleep.
You might ask why haven't I shared in these chores. I drive alot and blog and play with the kids and most of all... I empty the shitter!
Interesting note - At Old Fort Bent we were in the company of two direct descendants of George Bent. Half American - half Cheyenne, he was educated in St. Louis after a Cheyenne childhood, he fought with the Confederates in the Civil War and was captured in Corinth, he was returned to Colorado by a sympathizer at a Union prison, and after the Sand Creek Massacre in which he was shot in the hip, he fought with the Cheyenne Dog Soldiers for years in the Indian Wars. He later went with his people to the Oklahoma Reservation and became a translator and aide to the Indian Agents, even taking Cheyenne on buffalo hunts in north Texas while there were still buffalo.
I learned all this writing my 4th book, The Indian House. Not in print.
